The Arrogance of Google

Thanks to the arrogance of Google I’ve closed this blog down. Why..?

Because, based on my IP address, they suddenly converted my blog into Chinese characters. (I live in Hong Kong). Not the posts I’ve written, but all the characters in the ‘back office’ of the blog – where I write and maintain it. That means that managing this blog became impossible, since I don’t read Chinese.

I eventually managed to find a link to contact Google (Google owns Blogger) and sent them a contact request asking them why they’ve converted my blog into Chinese and asking them to change it back to English. I never got a response.

So I’ve exported this blog to Wordpress.

Bragging rights...

What does the Global Abundance Program actually sell?

I got a question in my email the other day that asked what GAP actually sells and what did GAP members actually have to do.

Here are the answers:

What does GAP sell? GAP sells wealth creation products.

Firstly a Mortgage Reduction Program: this program allows you to reduce your mortgage from 30 years to between 7 and 11 years, without any increase in monthly cost, potentially saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest.

Secondly a forex trading system: this is a red light/green light system that indicates the optimal time to sell or buy your paired currencies.

Thirdly, for Titanium members, you get a Travel Portal. This allows you to book any kind of travel, for yourself and your family, at big discounts.

In addition, you can market up to 4 of your own products in the GAP system and benefit from the GAP's marketing momentum.

What do GAP members have to do? GAP members have to promote their GAP website and they can sell the GAP marketing system, the mortgage reduction program or both.

What does GAP do? GAP provides ‘fast start’ marketing support to new members at Silver level and above, which is particularly useful to get things going quickly. GAP also runs marketing co-ops which you can join for a fee (currently $300) and which allow you to benefit from GAP’s national advertising programs. Both of these marketing programs will generate traffic to your website.

However, to really maximise the opportunity that GAP offers, you need to use your own resources to develop a steady stream of traffic to your site.

For system sales, GAP has a team of business advisors to talk to prospects, answer their questions and close the sale. For sales of the Mortgage Reduction Program interested prospects fill out a request form on the GAP site and will be contacted by one of the customer service people who look after the MRP.

So you, as the GAP business owner, do not need to do any personal selling or explaining.

As I said above – what you need to do is get traffic to your site. The system takes care of the rest.

GAP has just released a number of new, pre-written promotional emails for members to use.

You can tailor them to suit your branding and use them as part of your auto-responder sequence, or as promotional emails in advertising activities.

For me – I’ll add them to my GAP opt-in list message sequence and also use them as broadcast messages to my non-GAP opt-in list.

These guys continue to impress me with the amount of effort they put into supporting members and helping them to become successful!

The Global Abundance Program is Different - So What..?

When I first found the Global Abundance Program (GAP), one of the things I found very attractive was the unique, modified 1-up compensation plan.

In a typical 1-up program, the commission from your first sale is passed to your up-line – you, as the new sponsor, get nothing. In a 2-up program this applies to the first 2 sales.

In my opinion, this creates problems. Explaining to new prospects that they need to pass up 1 or 2 training sales to their up-line is hard. They may even think that the program is a scam because they make sales but get no commission.

In the Global Abundance Program's modified 1-up program, the first-sale commission is split between the new sponsor and their up-line. For the 2nd sale, the new member stays with the new sponsor but the commission is also split between the new sponsor and their up-line. From 3rd sale onwards, the new sponsor earns full commission.

In my opinion, this is a great improvement over the old 1-up or 2-up pay plans. Because new sponsors get paid on their first sale, they’re more motivated. They can also use the profits from their first sale to advertise and grow their business more quickly, motivating them still further!

What to do in 10 years time..?

In 10 years time I will reach official retirement age. With life expectancy increasing all the time I can expect to live for 20 or more years after I retire.

Do I have a sufficiently robust financial set up to allow me to maintain my lifestyle for 20 years with no income…? Absolutely not!

The problems affecting state pension systems have been well publicized. The outlook is not good! And here’s the bad news – the same problems are affecting private pension plans.

Keeping Customers (Part 2)

Hmmm - well, I'm still on SUNDAY this morning...

Got a call last night from SmarTone telling me that SUNDAY had rejected my number transfer request because the registered name on my account was wrong. Turns out that my Surname had somehow disappeared from my account....?? Interesting.

So I went to a SUNDAY shop on the way home and got my surname put back into my account details. SmarTone are going to start the transfer process again today - let's see what happens this time...

Keeping customers

I was one of the first people to sign up with SUNDAY when it launched. In fact the reason I came to Hong Kong was to write the licence application, so when it launched I had a feeling of ownership. I've been a customer of SUNDAY ever since. But no more.

One of the services I really liked was one where they sent me a text message every time I got an email. I could check the text, and if I wanted to respond to the email I could log in and do so. If not, I could do it later.

Over the past 18 months the network coverage has got steadily worse. Now I cannot count on being able to have a quality connection in my flat. And finally, last week, I got a text that went something like this:

"With effect from 16th April the HandyWorkstation service will be cancelled" That was it.

Well the Handy Workstation service is what provided the text alerts for my emails. So my reaction was:

"With effect from today my account will be cancelled"

Tomorrow I start with SmarTone. Let's see how it goes.
